Who This Policy Covers
CleverApply works with individual users (applicants, recruitment partners, and institutional staff) as well as universities and institutions that use our platform to manage enrollment and recruitment (“Institutional Customers”). Where we process data on behalf of an Institutional Customer under a services agreement, that institution controls the data and directs how it is used; our handling of that data is governed by our agreement with them in addition to this policy.

FERPA & Educational Records
Where CleverApply processes student education records on behalf of an Institutional Customer, we act in a role consistent with a “school official” under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and use that data only for the purposes authorized by the institution — not for independent marketing or other unrelated purposes.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard measures to protect your personal information. However, no system is entirely secure. We encourage you to take precautions, such as protecting your account credentials.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide our services, meet legal obligations, or as otherwise described at the time of collection. Institutional data is retained per the terms of our agreement with the relevant institution and is deleted or returned upon contract termination, consistent with our commitments in that agreement.

International Data Transfers
CleverApply does not transfer your personal information outside the United States. All data is stored and processed within the United States, except where our cloud infrastructure provider maintains redundant copies in other locations as part of its own backup and disaster recovery processes.
Children's Privacy
CleverApply is not intended for use by children. Our platform serves international students applying to colleges and universities, along with the institutions and recruitment partners that support them. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected information from a child, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

Our platform may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
